What the heck is Foot Golf?

Walt Disney World Resort is known for being “The most magical place on Earth.” But it’s also cleverly, “The most magical place on TURF!”

For many visitors this means golf clubs, a leisurely stroll, and a break from the hustle and bustle of the parks. But if you’re looking for a new Disney experience that’s perfect for your tweens and teenagers, this could also mean nine holes, competition, and a soccer ball!

That’s right!  A soccer ball!

Foot Golf is played on a nine hole golf course at Disney’s Oak Trail.  Think of it as a combination of soccer and golf.  After a brief introduction by some of the friendliest Cast Members, each player selects a soccer ball (there are usually 8 or more options…to avoid any teenage drama).  You’ll get a score card and mini golf pencil if your kids, like ours, believe every family activity warrants fierce competition.  There’s one practice hole and then you’re ready to go!

You wind up and down the course through a variety of obstacles…Mickey shaped bunkers, water features, and sometimes even Florida wildlife!  Don’t be alarmed if you cross paths with Sandhill Cranes or wild turkeys.  Both species believe they own the course.  Just give them their space and they will move along.  Please don’t feed or chase after them.  Just enjoy their company!

The course has restrooms located about halfway through, as well as a water station.  I recommend bringing your own water bottle because the Florida sunshine, heat, and humidity can sneak up on you.  There is not a lot of shade as you work your way through the course.

You can plan for about 90 minutes for the entire experience for a family of four.  Reservations can be made in advance by contacting Walt Disney Recreation.  You can even book on their website. Pricing for Foot Golf ranges between $25-$35 depending on the time of year.  Juniors (anyone under 18 years old) can play for 25% off.  And if you happen to have an Annual Pass with the Water Parks and Sports add on, Foot Golf is FREE! It is important to know that Foot Golf can only be played in the later afternoon/evening.  Because you are playing on the actual golf course, they wait for all traditional golfers to play through the course before opening it up for Foot Golf.

We’ve taken our daughters to play Foot Golf since they were little, but as they’ve reached the tween/teenager stage, it’s become even more fun!  Last summer I even braved the summer heat with six teenagers!  They had a fantastic time!  And despite their competitive nature, they left the course all smiles!
